🎯 Key themes: professional growth, open source culture, internationality

From Florence to Bologna, PyCon Italia changes city but remains one of the most important gatherings for the international Python community. Discover why Nephila has never missed an edition, what to expect in 2025, and why PyCon is much more than just a tech conference.

PyCon Italia 2025: more than a tech conference

PyCon is an annual event that inspires us, brings us together, and tells our story.
In 2025, it moves to Bologna for the first time, hosted at the Savoia Hotel Regency — a natural step for a conference that has always brought together people, skills, and visions from Python communities around the world.

For Nephila, it's much more than a sponsorship: it's a milestone in our growth journey and a moment to reconnect with the open-source culture that drives us every day.

We’ll attend with a full cross-functional team: backend and full-stack developers, analysts, project managers, communication and marketing professionals, back office, and help desk.

An opportunity to learn, connect, contribute, and exchange insights with peers from across Europe.

From Nephila to now: a shared journey of growth

Our first PyCon was back in 2015 — at PyCon Sei. Since then, we've never stopped attending.
Over the years, we've gone from attendees to active contributors: mentors, speakers, coaches, and organizers.

PyCon Italia is a space where everyone, regardless of their role, can bring something and return with even more.
Each edition has been a chance not only to support a key event for the developer community, but also to grow alongside the Italian and international Python ecosystem.

An event that grows with the people who live it

After years in Florence, PyCon 2025 moves to Bologna — to a larger venue — but carries with it the same values: openness, hospitality, and participation.

For Nephila, it's never been just a conference for developers. It's an inclusive and cross-functional event where every team can find inspiration: backend, design, communication, project management, marketing, and support.
This year, our roles are more diverse than ever:

  • Iacopo Spalletti, Nephila CTO and lead technical strategist, will speak with his talk: "Django from the Trenches: Patterns and Practices after 15 Years of Experience"
  • Ambra, Glenn, Fiorella, and Sabrina, part of the volunteer team ("yellow t-shirts"), are assisting with check-in and supporting international guests
  • Glenn and Leonardo, coaching the Django Girls workshop — a trans-inclusive community founded by women for women, committed to making Django more accessible and closing the gender gap in tech

Beyond the technical tracks, many colleagues from non-development roles will attend workshops and learning sessions aimed at strengthening cross-disciplinary and personal skills.

Among the highlights:

  • The Beginner’s Workshop by DataMasters, a hands-on Python introduction designed for those new to coding or those working closely with developers
  • Design Your Success, a personal branding workshop to help define clear career goals and build a plan to achieve them
  • Public speaking sessions to develop effective communication skills

“You don’t have to be a developer to feel part of PyCon Italia. All it takes is curiosity.”

A local conference with global reach

PyCon Italia is a global meeting point for the Python and Django communities.
In 2025, it was also promoted during a lightning talk at DjangoCon Europe by members of the organizing team, including our own Fiorella De Luca (PM and Team Facilitator).

The event is also listed in the European Commission’s Open Source Observatory (OSOR), a platform that promotes the use of free and open source software in public services.

With most sessions held in English, international speakers, and a welcoming atmosphere, PyCon Italia is the ideal context to share best practices, explore trends, and build valuable connections across industries, public institutions, academia, and freelance networks.

Why PyCon Italia feels like home

Each edition of PyCon Italia is for us a chance to breathe in the culture that inspires our work: open, collaborative, and constantly evolving.
We share its open-source values, its drive to grow together, and the power of exchanging perspectives between people from different roles and stories.

PyCon is not just an event we attend: it’s a space we inhabit. A meaningful time to reconnect as a team, engage with the community, and envision the future of digital together.

That’s why we return. Every year.

See you in Bologna?

We can't wait to see what this year's favorite swag will be.
Look for our Nephila t-shirts and stop us between talks — we'd love to say hi in person!
