Does Nephila use AI to write content?

While reading some of our articles, you may have noticed the contribution of large language models, what is more commonly referred to as “AI”. And you would be right. AI has become a valuable tool for us. It helps us contribute to conversations about topics we consider important, even when the time available for writing is limited. In keeping with the collaborative and open approach that has always shaped the way we work with technology, we want to share the methods we are experimenting with.

AI for capturing ideas and information

We have plenty of insights and informed perspectives on evolving technologies and the methods we use in our work. We discuss them frequently within the team, but turning those thoughts into written content is not always easy.

A long car journey and the desire to share some reflections created the space for an idea. Iacopo recorded his thoughts and used AI to transcribe and organise them, producing a workable first draft for an article.

Our communications team then prepared the text for publication. We considered whether to remove the stylistic features that can make AI-assisted writing recognisable. Instead, we decided that the more meaningful choice was to explain why and how we had used AI in the content-production process without disguising or hiding its contribution.

AI for synthesising and connecting information

Sometimes we want to bring together information collected from different members of the team, creating a shared perspective that reflects how we work and how we develop our collective knowledge.

Whenever we attend a conference or take part in a learning opportunity, we write reports so that the rest of the team can understand what we learned.

When several reports cover the same event or topic, our communications team uses AI to analyse them, produce summaries and identify common themes, contrasting perspectives and emerging ideas. This allows us to make that knowledge clearer and more accessible within Nephila and to share it with the wider community.

AI for writing in multiple languages

We publish in both Italian and English. The language we start with generally depends on the community we are addressing: sometimes international, sometimes primarily Italian.

In either case, we use AI to make the translation process faster. It produces a first draft, which is then carefully reviewed before publication by someone in the team with strong command of the target language.

An evolving process

AI-assisted work is always followed by human review. We verify that the information is accurate, that it aligns with Nephila’s values and strategy, and that the final text genuinely represents us.

We want to spend our energy exploring new topics, keeping our knowledge up to date and building robust, sustainable technology solutions. We also want to identify the horizons worth pursuing and contribute more consistently to relevant conversations—sharing our perspective without letting day-to-day delivery take up all the space available for reflection.

Our way of working with AI is still evolving. As we gain experience, we will continue to share the practices, lessons and developments we find most valuable.
